Went to Capital Laser after going to another place with poor results for my Brazilian laser hair removal. My initial consult was with Liz and she was very welcoming, informative, and did a test patch on my skin. Decided to go and give them a try. I bought a package of 5 sessions at discounted price. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an expert in Laser hair Removal. I had grown tired of the thick beard I’ve had to fight with since I graduated high school, and the constant irritation from shaving every day (and I tried every combination of razors, blades, creams and treatments on my face). So, I finally decided to have laser done, and after some research I decided to give Capital Laser a shot (no pun intended). Sue was very friendly and made sure I was fully informed about the procedure, and after a 30 minute consult I decided that I definitely wanted the procedure, so we started immediately after I gave my face a quick shave (I had shaved that morning, but since I get 5 o’clock shadow at 11AM I had to go back over it again). Sue was definitely right about one thing: it hurt. The good news is it wasn’t so painful I couldn’t stand it, Sue was fast and efficient so it was over quickly. After finishing my full face and neck, she packed my face in frozen paper towels (really creative, really since you mold them to your face) while I rested, and came back in a few times to check on me, change the towels and make sure my skin was cooling off. After wards she went back over the aftercare instructions again to make sure I understood everything and I walked away quite pleased with the experience. The results? Almost immediate. The next few days I was quite busy working and traveling, so I didn’t have a chance to shave, and like Sue said, the hair started growing. The great thing was that after 3 days I could run my hand over my face and the hair was coming off. So here I am, 3 weeks after my first treatment, and there is a DRASTIC reduction in facial hair (and my skin looks better than it has in a decade since I don’t have to scrape a razor over it every morning). There are small patches where new hair has started to pop up, but expecting 100% clearance after one session is unrealistic (and alot of what is coming up is gray hair, so I wasn’t expecting that to be cleared by the laser anyway). I’m looking forward to my next session in a few weeks to see how much more reduction I can get.
I recently completed my third session of laser hair removal for lower leg and bikini area with Sue. I am ecstatic with the results! Several years ago I went to another med spa and paid twice as much for a lesser result. I have considered paying for other areas, however Sue was very upfront and direct with me as to which area will receive maximum benefit from the treatment, I greatly appreciate her professionalism and consultative advice. And, the results are fantastic! It is true that the initial session is painful, however each consecutive treatment (as the hair diminishes) has been less painful. Big thumbs up for Sue! I have been a client of Capital Laser since 2011 and it is the only place I will go for laser hair removal. Sue, the technician/owner, is incredibly kind and is always honest on what areas I should get done and should not – all depends on the type of hair. I come every few months for a touch up since purchasing and completing my sessions in different areas. I have some hormonal issues so laser hair removal does’nt take as well in certain places. Sue is really fast and has never missed any hairs. I feel good knowing that she has over 25 years of experience in the field while many of the other laser hair removal places just take a course or have less than a year experience. I had never really had any cosmetic procedure done in the past, so I was a bit apprehensive, but Sue and Liz did a great job of putting my mind at ease. The office themselves are actually quite beautiful– very modern and clean. I also want to mention that as a trans woman, going into cosmetic procedures like this can be pretty anxiety-inducing, but I could not have felt more comfortable each time I had a session. I have no doubts whatsoever that this would be the case for any member of the LGBTQIA+ community:). Regarding the treatments I received: I purchased a package of five sessions for my face as well as the front of my neck. The results were pretty amazing! Although I still shave daily, it is so much easier to do so, and I really don’t even get a 5 o’clock shadow anymore. I still have a few stubborn hairs, and since I want them all gone I will probably do electrolysis somewhere to finish things up, but I will definitely go back to Capital Laser for other parts of my body in the future(when I can afford it, at least)! Wow – even if I tried, I couldn’t come up with enough praises for Capital Laser. I first attempted laser hair removal when I was in high school back in California. As someone of Middle Eastern descent, I have incredibly dark hair, which consequently led me to become self-conscious about the amount of hair I had and its overall noticeability. However, the first center I went to ultimately proved to be ineffective, so when I first decided to give Capital Laser a try, I was a bit skeptical at first. However, the experience was so incredible and so far exceeded my expectations that I wish I weren’t moving out the area soon, because I would definitely return to have Sue and Liz to laser the rest of my problem areas! I went in for my first session in December (chin and upper lip), and by the next scheduled appointment in January, I already noticed dramatic reduction in my hair growth and appearance. By the third session, the dark hairs that lined my entire chin were all gone, and the fourth and fifth sessions were almost unnecessary because of how ridiculously minimal the hair growth had become by that point. As someone who had to pluck hber chin on an almost daily basis (which would cause bruising to the skin, thereby only making me more dissatisfied with my facial appearance) and get her upper lip waxed at least once a month, the work done by Sue and Liz at Capital Laser was absolutely instrumental in restoring my self -confidence about my face; no longer do i look away when talking to someone or try to draw attention away from my smile! The best laser experience and facility I have ever had. Sue is knowledgeable about the history of laser the diffrent tecnologies and knows how to cater these technologies and different approaches based on the individual. I have been going to laser therapyfor my face since 2006 I have been with the best plastic surgeons in LA Pittsburgh and DC none have given me the results this place has. After the first session I saw the best results I have ever seen the amount of hair decreased the coarseness of it was less. Shes amazing to work with i even bought other body packages once I saw the results. This place is a miracle worker for me.

I purchased the pack of 5 sessions for the front of my neck that was prone to ingrown hairs as a result of shaving. After 5 sessions, I’ve been very pleased with my results. I do have to return for a few more sessions because I still have hair growth, but the staff mentioned this as a possibility (results vary person to person) during my initial consultation. I began going to Capital Laser in 2005. I wasn’t sure about the results I would get since, in my research, Capital Laser was less expensive than many other DC metro locations and I usually think everything is a scam. So I started off with less expensive, smaller area: my underarms. Well, I was so pleased with the laser treatments and results that I continued on to my lower legs, and am now working on my upper legs and a Brazilian (and more body parts to come, trust me). Having one technician work on my body has been an added advantage. Sue knows my skin and what works for me. She is always careful to give me great results without injuring me. And, frankly, she is a friendly person who makes one feel at ease. I would (and do) recommend this place to people I know because of the reasonable cost, great location, accommodating business hours, and absolutely amazing staff. If you have hair “issues” go to Capital Laser! It really did change my life because I no longer have to worry about letting my hair grow long enough to wax and have my body feel like razors. Sue came highly recommended to me and it was a big decision for me to choose her as I live and work in Richmond, Va and opted to travel for her laser services. I have had three sessions so far on my bikini line and underarms. After only two sessions, I noticed a significant difference in the hair growth and I am so happy that I am doing the laser. On the third visit, Sue purchased a new laser and the experience was ten times better than the first two. There was almost no pain at all and there was not any swelling after the fact. I went to Capital Laser based on a referral from a friend. I was incredibly apprehensive since I have darker skin (I am east indian) and sensitive skin. The change in my hair growth and skin quality is remarkable. I have never experienced any hyperpigmentation or burns or even the slightest degree of discomfort. The staff is truly professional, and their interest is your health and beauty over any sales. They evaluate your skin tone and are honest about the results you can expect. I was very satisfied with the laser procedure I received at Capital Laser. I was scared when I first came because I wasn’t sure of what I was going to get. The first treatment didn’t really hurt; it just felt like little pinches every now and then. After my second treatment, I noticed that I didn’t have much hair growth at all. I came to Capital Laser to have the front of my neck, back of my neck, shoulders, and back treated. I previously had waxing done but was unhappy with the pain and resulting rashes. The process is very quick and not painful, but slightly uncomfortable. The building has a parking garage that charges $8 an hour, and it’s also right beside the metro. Liz is such a gem and very helpful.

Capital Laser has worked wonders for me. Sue is effective, quick, professional, and convenient to get an appointment with. I received the below-the-navel (happy trail) and chin laser, and the hair fell out within a couple of days and hasn’t come back for months. When the hair does come back, it’s considerably less each time. Capital Laser is a great place to get hair removal done. Sue is wonderful. She makes sure to explain everything to her client and is completely honest about her care. I came in to get my hairline and a Brazilian done. I have a lot of baby hairs on my forehead, and I did not like the shape of my hairline, so I would get rid of the hairs myself. I decided to go in to get a consultation because I was tired of dealing with it. Sue took the time to look at it and saw that I did not do a very great job. She fixed the shape of my hairline. By my second treatment, my mis-shaped hairline was gone, and about 80% of my baby hairs are gone. I went in for my 3rd treatment, but since I had tanned, Sue was honest enough to let me know she recommended I wait until my skin got lighter so it wouldn’t burn. I have had 3 Brazilian treatments, and by the second treatment, I noticed that 80% of my hair was gone. I am so pleased with the service at Capital Laser, and the prices are lower than anywhere I’ve looked in the DC Metropolitan area. Sue is truly a genuine person. She is professional and honest. If she feels that someone or a procedure for a particular individual is not a good candidate, she will be truthful with that person. I began going to Capital Laser in 2005. I wasn’t sure about the results I would get since, in my research, Capital Laser was less expensive than many other DC metro locations, and I usually think everything is a scam. So I started off with a less expensive, smaller area: my underarms. Well, I was so pleased with the laser treatments and results that I continued to my lower legs, and now I’m working on my upper legs and Brazilian (and more parts to come, trust me).
Having one technician work on my body has been an added advantage. Sue knows my skin and what works for me. She is always careful to give me the best results without injuring me. And, frankly, she is a friendly person who makes one feel at ease.

I first visited Capital Laser in 2004 for much-needed help. I had noticed the sign to Capital Laser on my way home. One day I decided to come in for a consultation. I was very impressed with Sue; she explained what was involved in the treatment of hair removal. I was pleased knowing it would be a permanent solution for an embarrassing problem. I had the start of a very hairy chin and sideburns. I had a few treatments in those areas, and I cannot be more pleased at the results. No more plucking or hair bleaching. I decided to go ahead and have my underarms treated well. Experiencing freedom from the constant shaving is a wonderful thing. One of my co-workers told me she was looking for a laser place in order to treat her chin area. I went to Capital Laser based on a referral from a friend. I was incredibly apprehensive since I have darker skin ( I am East Indian) and sensitive skin. The change in my hair growth and skin quality is remarkable. I have never experienced any hyperpigmentation or burns or even the slightest degree of discomfort. The staff is truly professional and their interest is your health and beauty over any sales. They evaluate your skin tone and are honest about the results you can expect. Like all the other reviews, it’s not possible to regret establishing a relationship w/ Sue: I came into my initial consult SURE that I had Sasquatch issues. I also probably didn’t ask many questions as I SHOULD have had – she has a way of putting you at ease, which really comes in handy in such a vulnerable situation.
I won’t mince the truth, the pain experienced during the first session was “unbeareable” for someone who prides herself on having a high pain threshold, but the results are COMPLETELY WORTH IT. The other day my boyfriend commented, “ Oh wow, you recently shaved your legs” to which I replied, “ Actually, I haven’t shaved in 2 months”… says the girl who once felt legally obligated to shaving daily even just semi-smooth look and feel!
Yes, it’s pricey, but so is LASIK eye surgery…long term investments require worthwhile investment. So yes it’s expensive and initially painful but w/each session the pain diminished.

I love Sue! I was nervous, but she explained everything to me and made me feel comfortable for each appointment. I booked the twenty-min. consultation. Sue explained the technology behind the equipment. I was interested in the bikini special they were running. We discussed the shape I wanted. She has an opening right after the consultation, so we got started right away! She lightly drew out the shape and it was perfect! I coudn’t be happier with the results. Ive gone twice for treatment (purchased a 5-pack) and I’ve had great experiences both times. It’s indicated by the name, but laser hair removal is only service provided. During my first visit, Sue gave me a thorough rundown of her experience, the machines, etc. She clearly knows her stuff. Even if she comes off a bit “braggy,” I believe it’s more self-assurance about her skills. One session was performed by her, the other by her associate (can’t remember her name, but she was very nice!) Both sessions were relatively painless and so far I am happy with the results. The office was also very clean, which feels more important now than ever!

The results for my Brazilian laser treatment are incredible. A few years back I got laser at another spot that didn’t work at all. After two sessions at Capital Laser I see a huge difference with very little hair growing back. Sue is wonderful, knowledgeable, and makes you feel really comfortable.
This was my first time trying laser hair removal. I did my research and did consultation with all the places I chose. I did my underarms at Capital Laser and I must say I am very happy with the results. After 4 times the hair is almost gone and I did have very thick hair since I’m from the Middle East. I know everyone’s body has different reactions to laser but i am very happy with the end result. It did hurt for the first time but after every time that my hair was thinner and thinner the pain was less and less. Will go back for other parts of my body for sure.
I waited to post this review because I wanted to see how my results would turn out first. I went to Capital Laser after unpleasant experience with groupon in another places(yes, places as plural, cuz I was trying desperately to get rid of my body hair and went to several providers). In the end , I was really disappointed with laser hairs removal and started to believe it’s not for me. I got a consultation at Capital Laser first and Sue explained to me the procedure and importance of being consistent and accurate with scheduling to “catch” that new wave of hair grow in time(that was very important to get a good result) In the past when I would go to other offices they did not bothered to spend time to explain anything and was just happy to take my money and be done with me. That was not a case in CL. I have great results- I would estimate that 90% percent of my hair is gone. I don’t shave anymore. And, I only wish I would have came to CL first, I don’t even want to think how much money I wasted in other places.
I think one of the most interesting things about Sue is that she manages to always let the client know up front the risks involved. I myself am a sales woman. Most sales people I have come across would share all the benefits to the client first and then very briefly state a potential risk like it was no major concern. My own method, like Sue’s, always includes letting the client know upfront the risks. As such, I have great respect for Sue and her ability to stay honest and forthright in a market where sales people are beginning to take over. Whether it is to please ourselves or our partners, it’s something many women deal with on a daily basis. I will share with you my own experience with Sue and the process of laser hair removal I am familiar with. Sue has treated me in the past on my lower legs. The results are obvious. I only had 3 treatments, and as such enjoy a 75% reduction in my leg hair. I plan on continuing this process in order to achieve a higher percentage of hair loss in that region. However, this time: I will be using the topical Anesthetic cream in order to achieve minimal discomfort. Don’t be fooled people, anyone that tells you is absolutely telling you “Porky Pies”… lies. Now im currently in the process of having my Brazilian Bikini Line Laser Removed. I just had , my first treatment we are documenting the process. I used the cream as directed, because the genital region has the most course hair and thick hair on the body … meaning the pain would be more in regions with finer hair. This first single treatment only lasted out 25 minutes. I was naked other than my bra, but felt completely relaxed as Sue always maintains her professionalism. As well, I really did not feel major pain. It was uncomfortable as you can imagine, with vaporizing the hair below the skin line and all. However, I would not describe it as burning sensation, rather, a slight stinging that lasts for about a half hour after the initial treatment. All worth it in the end, and i know this because I have seen the results on my legs. Sue has asked me to document the process in order to give the general consumer a more honest idea of how it feels and also what it looks like in the stages. I am going to do this for her and for you. Sue will carry this documentation not all in the book, but at her practice to show potential clients so they know exactly what to expect. I am a massive advocate of laser hair removal in my Brazilian Bikini Region for what I feel are major reasons, i shave daily … shaving costs money, takes time, and leaves me with regular and unslightly razor rash. waxing is painful and continious if thats your chosen method… and again with the money and time; not to mention ingrown hairs upon re-growth. I don’t understand why Google is deleting my reviews. I don’t usually post reviews, but felt compelled to do so following my experience with Capital Laser and Sue. Several years ago, I decided to try laser hair removal as a result of a thick beard and unsightly ingrown hairs on my face. Shaving was difficult, and not shaving wasn’t an option given the need to look professional for work and graduate level study purposes. Within a couple few hours of shaving, I would suffer from unslightly razor burn, which would only get worse as the day wore on and especially during the hot, humid summer months DC is known for. I exhausted every option — all the lotions, creams, shaving devices, exfoliating, visits to dermatologists, EVERYTHING — before settling on laser hair removal. Before trying Capital Laser, I initially was undergoing treatment at a physician’s office. He estimated that I would need about four to five treatments, but over eight to ten treatments later, all i had to show for the time and money were numerous patches/ stripes of hair on my face (bizarre looking if I went one day without shaving) and some small scars from blisters received from the treatment. Following a treatment (always scheduled for a Friday), I would not leave my house all weekend due to the puffiness of my face and possibly some blisters. I almost gave up. My situation was honestly worse than before trying laser. After realizing that i had to try someplace else in order to treat at least some of the remaining patches and stripes of hair on my cheeks and chin area, I found Capital Laser. I was extremely hesitant at first. But between Sue’s confidence that she could help me and with her encouragement, I agreed to try at least one session. After a single session, I was sold! I have completed treatment with Sue and pop into her office a couple of times a year now for maintenance (hormones don’t stop). The results are incredible! Not only is my skin clear, but following any treatment I could go to work and even out that same evening with friends. Aside from a slight pinkness that subsides after about 20 minutes following treatment, you cannot tell i had any procedure done earlier that day. Packages come 4 treatments per body. And the prices are very competitive – and for the type of quality service and quality results by someone who has been doing this for a very long time, you will not find better prices or accessibility. After the 1st treatment, there was noticeable hair reduction(and I’m not that hairy). After the 4th treatment, the areas treated are significantly maintenance-free. Very satisfied with the results. If you need more treatments after that – this place has great specials too! But you have to listen during the consultation. I went to Capital Laser based on a referral from a friend. I was incredibly apprehensive since I have darker skin (I am east indian) and sensitive skin. The change in my hair growth and skin quality is remarkable. I have never experienced any hyperpigmentation or burns or even the slightest degree of discomfort. The staff is truly professional, and their interest is your health and beauty over any sales. They evaluate your skin tone and are honest about the results you can expect. The pricing is competitive with other places, however the services far exceed others in the area.
The Consultation was very informative and straight forward. I had the laser treatment on my neck area to eliminate irritation and ingrown hairs. After my first session about 90 percent of the hair was gone. I had discoloration and scarring on my neck prior to the treatment, and it also faded following the first and second session.

The staff is wonderful, friendly and informative. They offer great deals each month for new clients and special offers for returning clients as well. The process is very quick and not painful but slightly uncomfortable. The building has a parking garage which charges $8 an hr and it’s also right beside the metro. Liz is such a gem and very helpful.
After many years of waxing, I’d been contemplating getting laser hair removal for a long time. I was hesitant about the potential pain and the cost. Sue is amazing!!! I’ve had laser hair removal before under my arms at a high-end plastic surgery place. However, they could not compare to Sue because she is way more knowledgeable. She provides detailed instructions at the beginning of how the process works and what you may encounter. I’ve only had 2 sessions, but I’ve had better results than when I did under my arms. A few years ago, I had multiple sessions (probably 10-12) over the course of two years at a laser center in Maryland. The doctor oversaw the procedure, but it was performed by a laser technician. I was very disappointed with my results, and after each session the hair returned full force. I was pretty much resigned to the fact that I would never have good results with lasers.
I took a few years off from hair removal, but then became so upset with the amount of hair on my face/neck that I sought a place in Arlington and/or DC to have a few more sessions. After reading the Capital Laser reviews, I was encouraged to try lasers again. Sue was very honest with me during my consultation and said that some people never see results with lasers, but she thought that, based on my skin and hair, I might be a good candidate. She is very honest and would not accept a patient that she was unsure of their potential with laser hair removal – I appreciated this honesty and hoped for the best when booking my first appointment. Sue is very quick and efficient, but this should not be confused with rushed and/or reckless – she has NEVER burned me, and I feel very little during my treatments (it’s laser, so there IS pain – this is inevitable – but it’s much better than my other laser experience, which was quite painful). After my first session, I experienced probably 75% hair loss. I was ecstatic. After session two, I probably lost about 15% of the hair on my face/neck. I am thrilled with the results, and even if I do not have any more progress, my confidence has grown, and I am so appreciative to have an (almost entirely!) clear face and neck. I am confident, however, that Sue will continue to work wonders, and I will be left with smooth skin. She has made me feel so much more beautiful, and I am so grateful to have found Capital Laser.

I originally did a Google search for laser hair removal treatment centers in the DC metro area after seeing a Sephora ad for a new at-home laser hair removal product. The reason? The product had irreversible hazards to my skin/health. I wanted to find out how much more it would cost to get it done professionally. I found out about Capital Laser Hair Removal and read plenty of reviews. They were pretty much all glowing positive, and I was skeptical. However, I called them, asked a few questions, and felt they answered them satisfactorily, which made me feel comforted. I also happened to get very lucky and caught the last day of an unbeatable, limited-time promotion price. I went for it, locking in treatments for my upper lip, bikini line, underarms, and lower legs. I am halfway through my treatments and have to say that this has been LIFE-CHANGING! I am very happy with the results… It is so worth it for the positive benefits you get from this investment. The effect of the laser on the upper lip was mediocre because the hair there is far too light, and the laser is most effective when there is a strong contrast between the skin and the hair. I only had peach fuzz there, so while it helped, it didn’t take everything away 100%, but that’s the nature of the laser. I had already had some upper lip treatments at a hospital in the Philippines, so much of it was gone anyway… not a big deal. However, my hair is darker on my legs, bikini area, and underarms, so the results there have been phenomenal. I have black hair and fairly light skin. I used to shave, then began plucking my leg hairs for years… I would constantly get ingrown hairs and would then pick at them and get scars all over my legs. Or you would still see the dark hairs showing faintly through the surface of my skin even after a close shave. It was embarrassing, and I felt self-conscious if anyone ever got near my legs. I had been thinking about laser hair removal for some time and actually made an appt with Reveal Medspa, but was put off by their price and hard-sell tactics. That same day, I decided to do some more research and came across Capital Laser. The prices listed on the website were much more reasonable for comparable service, so I made an appt for a consultation. At this point, I had already done a lot of research into the technique, technology, and process. Still, Sue at Capital Laser insisted on explaining everything to me anyway, just to be sure. She was also very honest about what she could and could not do. Everything she said was consistent with my research. I canceled my appt with Reveal and moved forward with Capital Laser and couldn’t be more pleased with the results or price.
So far, I’ve been to Capital Laser 3 times now ( 2 more sessions to go) for my bikini area, and I am highly satisfied with the results. I’m a prime candidate for the procedure as I have dark hair with relatively light skin, and after even just the first session, there was very little re-growth. It’s not entirely pain-free but bearable (although I have a relatively high threshold). You do have the option of using a numbing cream ahead of time but Sue doesn’t give you the hard sell to buy any products or package treatments, for that matter.

So I’m a fan of Brazilians…great for the summer season, and rather comfortable in my opinion. Well, after about a year of getting waxed every 4-5weeks– I’m Italian, what can I say?– I quickly determined that the practice was completely cost-ineffective for me. Literally, I spent probably 3 or 4 months researching and procrastinating the inevitable change I needed to make. But, honestly, after meeting with Sue, I realized why this place was rated 5 out of 5 stars. My first treatment resulted in an approximately 75% reduction in hair… after my second treatment, 80%. Now that I’m going in for my fourth treatment in about a week, other than the spots I wanted to keep, I have maybe 95% hair loss. Now, I do have very fair skin (even my foundation is usually either the lightest or second lightest in the rack) and dark hair, so I was a fairly good candidate… but for anyone who is looking to simplify their lives with laser hair removal in the DC metro area, I cannot say enough great things about this place, And I would recommend, despite the drive some might have to make, to just choose Capital Laser– rather than go to some place nearby for convenience, just suck it up and go to the best place in the area– it’s better than taking the risk of wasting your money with no results…get it right the first time and go to Capital Laser.
I will say, I was not prepared for the ‘sensation’ of the laser, so I’d recommend a couple of ibuprofen prior to a visit-even those with good pain tolerances–it’ll make the experience more comfortable, even though you’ll only be there for 3-5 minutes. I hope this helped anyone on the fence 🙂 .
